A modern decking material for today’s apartment living

2017-05-31T10:19:38+00:00 May 31st, 2017|

Guild is a new lifestyle development in Southbank, at the heart of Melbourne’s arts precinct. Above the spacious and modern apartments, a private rooftop garden offers additional relaxation space with barbeque facilities and panoramic views of the city. For the rooftop deck, the architects chose Trex® decking board in Lava Rock, the deep-red-hued board with reddish, black undertones and a natural wood-grain pattern that creates a redwood look and feel.

Like all Trex® decking products, the eco-friendly composite boards laid at Guild will last in the direct sunlight much longer than traditional timbers would. They will retain their rich colour and require little to no maintenance all along the way. Installation contractor Decking Out Melbourne did a great job, and had a second apartment tower rooftop Trex® deck laid in late April.

Trex® for treading on to get a rooftop view

2017-05-26T11:49:37+00:00 May 26th, 2017|

The Fitzroy Fire Station in Melbourne was built over a century ago. When society’s needs changed and it fell into disuse, it’s street appeal was still too good and its history too important for the old building to be disposed of completely.  Now the old Metropolitan Fire Brigade station is the front for a vibrant apartment complex that has been topped off with a new Trex® deck.

The  building’s rooftop terrace gives residents and their visitors magnificent views of the city skyline, and the addition of Trex® makes the open-air space extra appealing. The colour chosen for the  Trex® boards is Lava Rock, which looks fantastic alongside the well-weathered materials used in the building’s original construction. The project was the responsibility of deck specialists  Decking Out Melbourne, and it’s a wonderful installation.

Enjoying the lakeside lifestyle with Trex®

2017-05-16T09:41:16+00:00 May 16th, 2017|

At a private residence right on the doorstep of Lake Nagambie in the Goldfields region of Victoria, Rhett Stevenson of VResidential has completed a big project using Trex® decking. The work comprises an eight metre-long floating Jetty out onto the water, and an 16 metre-long front deck from which the owners can relax and enjoy the spectacular lakeside location.

The homeowner’s instruction was for Rhett to use a deck board that requires little to no maintenance. Trex® was the natural choice, the colour Island Mist selected for the compatibility of its silvery tones with the light that beautifully plays on the water in the still air of a tranquil Nagambie evening.  Pictured is Stage I of the Nagambie Trex® deck project. Stage II will extend the deck a further six metres across the lakeshore.

Rhett is a Trex® Pro representing us in the Nagambie area. As a registered builder he loves how easy a Trex® deck is to lay, and how the the straight, consistent boards make for an excellent decking finish.

Townsville tots take to Trex®

2017-05-03T10:34:35+00:00 March 16th, 2017|

The Jezzine Barracks playground is a children’s play facility in Townsville, Queensland completed in mid-2016. It sits on a 15 hectare redevelopment that includes coastal boardwalks, parks and traditional artworks that recognise the location’s significant Aboriginal heritage. From colonial times until  2006 the land was used for military purposes, after which it became public recreation space.

Trex® decking was used to create several items installed at the new playground, its application demonstrating how the versatile decking can be applied in interesting and appealing ways. Some 15 boxes of various sizes where made out of Trex decking boards and placed on a grass surface for playing and sitting on. In front of the grassed area is a Trex deck stage where children engage in play and event activities.  Trex was chosen for the new playground due to its 25-year stain and fade warranty and its resistance to mould; proof it will work well for years to come in the tropical Townsville environment.

Premium decking for a premier marine facility

2017-05-15T16:07:14+00:00 February 20th, 2017|

Clontarf Marina is marketed as Sydney’s premier full-service marina. And for a new development on the Sandy Bay site, they chose premium Trex® decking. The expanded Clontarf Marina will include additional berths and a new restaurant, and will feature a 370 sq. m Trex® deck. When completed this will be a major enhancement for the already-upmarket Sydney, NSW boating facility.

Replas decking solutions product specialist Steven Pottinger recently met on site with Tom Simms, project engineer for SMC Marine who are in charge of the development. Steven is overseeing Replas’ part in the project, for which Trex® decking will be ideal for the marine deck and a great new asset for the marina facility.
